Hello everyone,
I hope you’ve all been well and moving through your days with purpose, joy, and fulfilment.
It’s been a full month across every area of life — long work weeks (Monday to Saturday), bake days, markets, and family time. Life has been moving, fast.
In March, I participated in The Art of Dining in Williamstown. Mum flew over to support me, which made the experience even more special. It was a strong event from a connection standpoint. Being able to speak with customers and other small business owners is something I value highly. Most of my time is spent working solo, so those moments of shared perspective and conversation are important.

I’ve continued attending monthly craft markets across Melbourne, but after reviewing the numbers, I’ve made the decision to pause these — particularly as we move into winter. Time is limited, and I need a stronger return on that investment. My focus will shift toward product development, content creation, collaborations, and backend systems that drive long-term growth. That said, I’ll continue to explore larger, food and design-led events. I’m booked for Finders Keepers Market at the Royal Exhibition Building in July, which I see as a higher-value opportunity.
Now at the six-month mark in business, I’m feeling a clear push toward the next product line. The standard is high — it needs to be right. Recipe development is progressing, but there’s still work to be done. It’s not just about flavour; it’s shelf life, production scalability, equipment limitations, cost, packaging, and overall market fit.
The granola bar has been the main focus. The biggest challenges are achieving the right binding without relying on refined sugars or artificial preservatives, and designing a process that can scale within the constraints of my current setup. Working within a hired kitchen means I have to be practical with what’s available — every decision has to account for that.

Alongside this, I’ve been actively looking to purchase a commercial kitchen space. I’ve put forward a couple of offers and am waiting to see how that unfolds. The plan would be to lease the space initially, then transition into it once the business can sustainably carry the overhead. Realistically, there will likely be an interim step between my current setup and a fully scaled manufacturing space.
Looking ahead, I have a content shoot booked for May. The goal is to move toward consistent, monthly shoots — increasing the volume and quality of content so I can test, learn, and improve faster. This is a key lever for growth.
With everything in motion, financial discipline is becoming non-negotiable. Cash flow, cost control, and accurate numbers are a major focus right now — both in the business and personally. Left unchecked, expenses will expand to fill any space available. Being deliberate here matters.
At six months in, the initial excitement of launch has settled. This phase is about consistency — doing the work, refining the process, and continuing to build. Staying disciplined with daily actions, maintaining structure, and trusting the process while still thinking critically about what’s working and what isn’t.
Thank you for being here and following along.
I’ll check in again next month.
Much love,
Kacie Jae
